Abstract

1,010,514. Thermal regulators. PRVNI BRNENSKA STROJIRNA, ZAVODY KLEMENTA GOTTWALDA, NARODNI PODNIK. July 17, 1962, No. 27488/62. Heading F4K. A thermal regenerator comprises stationary heat transfer material 3 arranged in separated compartments 2 through which the heat exchanging fluids, e.g. combustion gases and air, are alternately passed by means of rotary distributers 5 (see Figs. 3) extending over each end of the compartments, each distributer comprising an open-ended tube having ports in its circumferential wall 13 separated by a partition 12 extending obliquely across the tube interior. The arrangement is such that each fluid enters or leaves the regenerator compartments through the appropriate distributer ports, the fluids passing to and from the distributers through the ends thereof and the two fluids as they pass simultaneously through the distributer are separated by the oblique wall 12. In the drawings, cold air is admitted at duct 7 and is directed by the appropriate distributer to certain of the regenerators passages 2 which it leaves by way of the other distributer and hot air exit duct 8. At the same time hot gas enters the latter distributer by way of duct 6 and flows through others of the passages 2 to the first distributer and thence to a cooled gas exit duct 10. The alternate flow of the respective heat exchanging fluids through each compartment may be in the same or in opposite directions.
