Class 64(3) A heat exchanger particularly for reheating massecuite comprises a chamber 10 and a rotary hollow shaft divided longitudinally into two compartments extending through the chamber and carrying separate coils 21 through which a liquid passes, the inlets to the coils being connected to one compartment of the shaft and the outlets from the coils being connected to the other compartment. The chamber is divided by partitions 22 into sections each having two coils of opposite hand spirals.
