Abstract
690,515. Thermal regenerators. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN. March 9, 1951 [March 11, 1950], No. 5728/51. Class 64 (i) A refractory, regenerative heat-transfer block is provided on opposite faces with grooves 12, 14 to connect channels 10 extending from one of those faces to the other, the grooves on one face being at an angle, e.g. a right-angle, to those on the other. Grooves extending parallel to the channels 10 may be provided on other surfaces of the block. The channels 10 circular, may be hexagonal or elliptical in cross-section. The blocks may be triangular or quadrilateral in cross-section, so that they can be assembled to fill a sector-shaped compartment of the rotor of a rotary regenerator. The blocks may be made of clay, cement, slag, glass, &c.
