890,244. Electromagnetic stirring. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. July 14, 1960 [July 18, 1959], No. 24512/60. Class 86. [Also in Group XXXVI] A furnace 3 in which the melt is stirred by electromagnetic means 4 has coils 2 by which the flux density across a vertical section of the furnace may be measured, embedded in the ceramic cap 5 of the stirrer. Penetrations 1 of molten metal into the furnace lining will, when the temperature of the inclusion has fallen below the Curie-point of the metal, be indicated by peaks in the curve obtained, (see Fig. 2 not shown).
