Abstract

1421648 Furnace topholes ELECTRICITY COUNCIL 19 June 1974 [24 Oct 1973] 49466/73 Heading F4B A side tapped coreless induction furnace has a crucible with a rammed lining 11 and a lower ring of refractory blocks incorporating an apertured block 15 with a refractory nozzle 17 in the aperture, said nozzle extending inwardly by the width of said lining 11. The furnace is cylindrical with a shell 23 enclosing laminate refractory 22 and the coil 21 supported by the ring of refractory blocks (10, Fig. 1). Two of these blocks are replaced by the apertured block 15 in which the nozzle 17 and holder 18 are interlocked. A launder 20 rests within the bore of the block.
