Abstract

Induction heated oven esp. for melting metals and alloys consists of an approximately cylindrical crucible in refractory material. The melt occurs in two of three equispaced vertical channels and in a common horizontal channel. The oven uses two windings on laminated ores the magnetic circuit being completed by two yokes. The coils are mounted symmetrically such that the induced field is reinforced in the centre channel. The two windings are driven from a third set outside the crucible and coaxial with the central channel.
