Abstract
1416300 Mixing apparatus, circulating molten metal ALCAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT LTD 9 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 53714/71 Heading BIC Apparatus for circulating molten metal in a furnace comprises a refractory member 1 adapted to be mounted in a wall of the furnace, a refractory nose-piece 2 adapted to extend into the furnace, an elongated metal core 3 extending into said nose-piece, and an A.C. induction coil 4 arranged around the core, the core projecting outwardly from the coil 4 to such an extent 6 that the portion extending into the nose-piece from the mid point of the coil constitutes only 25-50% and preferably about 37% of the core length. A tunnel member 8 may be disposed around the nose-piece to assist circulation of the molten metal.
