890,117. Cartridge-operated fastener driving tools. SOC. CIVILE D'ETUDES DE PROCEDES DE SCELLEMENT. May 21, 1958 [May 29, 1957], No. 16272/58. Class 119. Relates to a fastener guide for fitting on to the open end of the barrel of a fastener driving tool so that the guide may be placed in positions inaccessible to the tool barrel itself. As shown in Figs. 1, 2 for use in securing a U-section member, the guide 1 has a bore 1<SP>1</SP> equal to the bore of the tool barrel c and is shaped to provide two parallel flat surfaces 1<SP>3</SP> which can be fitted in the gap between the flanges of the U-section member to bring the forward end of the guide into contact with the bore of the channel. The rear end of the guide is formed with a mouth comprising a cylindrical outer surface 1<SP>5</SP> and a cylindrical recess 1<SP>6</SP> so that the guide fits accurately over the end, of the barrel as a sliding fit and sufficient clearance is left between the surface 1<SP>5</SP> and the splinter guard e. In another embodiment for use in securing angle section members only one flat surface 1<SP>3</SP> is provided and in another modification the forward end of the guide is inclined to enable members to be secured in the corners of masonry without removing the splinter guard.
