Abstract

1,036,224. Cartridge-actuated tools. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO. Ltd. May 21, 1965 [May 23, 1964], No. 21384/64. Heading B4C. A cartridge-actuated tool for driving fasteners, such as nails, comprises a plunger 2 adapted to be driven in a barrel 1 and a magazine 5 movably mounted on the barrel and adapted to contain a number of cartridges 15 such that a cartridge 15 is fed into a recess 16 when the magazine and recess are brought into alignment. The magazine is in the form of a cylinder having one end closed at 6, Fig. 2 (not shown), and a lip 7 at the other end for engagement with the rim 8 of a cartridge; a cut-away 11 is provided so that a cartridge may be moved sidewardly out of the magazine by relative movement between the handle 3, in which the magazine is mounted, and the barrel 1. A sleeve 13 is slidable over the open end of the magazine in order to prevent the cartridges from being accidentally withdrawn.
