Abstract

The invention comprises complex metal compounds of monoazo dyes which contain bound through an amino group to a monohalo-1 : 3 : 5-triazine residue two complex metal compounds of monoazo dyes of which at least one is a 1 : 2-complex chromium or cobalt compound of a monoazo dyestuff containing at least two sulphonic acid groups. They are prepared by condensing a trihalo-1 : 3 : 5-triazine on the one hand with a 1 : 2-chromium or -cobalt complex of a monoazo dye containing at least two sulphonic acid groups and an acylatable amino group, and on the other, with a complex heavy metal compound of an aminomonoazo dye, the condensation being carried out so that a monohalotriazine condensation product is obtained. The metallised aminomonoazo dye used may be the same or a different 1 : 2-chromium- or -cobalt complex or a 1 : 1-copper or nickel complex. The dyes may be used to dye and print wool, silk, superpolyamides, and cellulose fibres, particularly cotton, preferably in the presence of an alkali, in brown and grey shades. In Examples (1) the monoazo dye 6-nitro - 1 - amino - 2 - naphthol - 4 - sulphonic acid --> 2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid is prepared and converted into the corresponding 1 : 2-chromium and -cobalt complexes which are reacted successively in equimolar proportions with cyanuric chloride; (2) the cobalt complex described in (1) is reacted with cyanuric chloride and the dichlorotriazine derivative is further reacted with the copper complex of the monoazo dye 1 - hydroxy - 2 - amino - 6 - acetyl - aminobenzene-4-sulphonic acid --> 3-methyl 5-pyrazolone which is treated with aqueous sodium hydroxide to hydrolyse the acetylamino group before coppering.
