Abstract

Regenerated cellulose is dyed in the mass using water-soluble monoazo dyes of formula:- <FORM:0899886/IV (a)/1> wherein A is the residue of an aminobenzoic acid bound through its amino group, one X is a sulphonic acid group and the other X is a group of formula <FORM:0899886/IV (a)/2> In an example an aqueous solution of a dye of the above formula wherein A is the residue of 2-aminobenzoic acid, the halogen atom is chlorine, X1 is the azo-pyrazole residue and X2 a sulphonic acid group is added to viscose which is spun in the usual manner to give a yellow spinning cake. Specifications 775,308 and 797,946 are referred to.ALSO:The invention comprises water-soluble monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:0899886/IV (c)/1> wherein A is the residue of an aminobenzene carboxylic acid bound through its amino group, one X is a sulphonic acid group and the other X is a group of formula <FORM:0899886/IV (c)/2> They are prepared by condensing a corresponding dihalotriazinylamino - monoazo dye with an aminobenzene carboxylic acid, or by condensing a suitable aminoazo dye with a dihalotriazinylamino-benzene carboxylic acid or by coupling the diazo compound of a corresponding monohalotriazinylamino-aniline sulphonic acid with 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The dyes give yellow shades on cellulose fibres. In Examples: (1) cyanuric chloride (1 mol) is condensed with 2-aminobenzoic acid (1 mol) and 1 : 4-diaminobenzene-3 sulphonic acid (1 mol) the condensation product diazotised and coupled with 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone; (2) the monoazo dye 1-amino-3-acetylaminobenzene-3-sulphonic acid --> 3-methyl-5-pyrazoline is hydrolysed with sulphuric acid to give the aminoazo dye which is condensed successively with cyanuric chloride and 2-aminobenzoic acid. Further examples are given. Specifications 775,308 and 797,946 are referred to.
