Abstract

889,755. Steam irons. POLYMER INDUSTRIE CHIMICHE, S.p.A. July 4, 1960 [July 8, 1959], No. 23305/60. Class 138 (2). A steam iron comprising an electrically heated water reservoir 2 having a steam outlet tube 8 is provided with an additional water reservoir 1 made wholly or partly of transparent material to allow observation of the water level therein, the additional reservoir 1 having a water inlet with an airtight closure plug 6, and a water outlet conduit 4 extending into the reservoir 2, the arrangement being such that when the iron is up-ended for filling, the reservoir 1 is completely filled before sufficient water has been introduced to cause water to pass into the steam outlet 8. The conduit 4 is closed at its lower end and provided with a lateral opening 5. The reservoir 1 may be made of plastic or of metal with plastic windows. The reservoir 2 has a safety valve 11 and an inspection opening with an air-tight closure 10.
