763,788. Hand-irons. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 20, 1955 [Jan. 21, 1954], No. 1800/55. Class 138 (2). An electric iron has a removable water reservoir 17 located in a pocket 18 to the rear of a steam chamber 10 to which water is supplied from the reservoir through means 20 connected to an opening 16 in the chamber 10. The pocket 18 is defined by walls 19 integral with a cover 4 and has an open rear end through which the reservoir can be slid when removing or inserting it. The reservoir is supported at its rear end by a heat-resistant handle 29 secured to the reservoir and adapted to be supported by a plate 26. The reservoir opening 20 contains an orificed plug 22 which is unscrewed for filling and emptying the reservoir. A handle 5 may be pivoted at 6 and held in its operative position by a latch 8. The rear corner 30 of the handle 5 co-operates with the handle 29 to form a heel rest on which the iron may be up-ended.
