Abstract

777,182. Steam irons. HOOVER, Ltd. June 30, 1955 [July 1, 1954], No. 18896/55. Class 138 (2). A steam iron having a sole-plate 10 surmounted by a cover shell 11, and a water reservoir 14 covered by the shell 11, is provided with indicating means including a transparent or translucent window 28 formed in a part of the wall of the reservoir, and projecting through or visible through an opening 29 in the shell 11, to enable the water level in it to be observed when the iron is up-ended. The window 28 may comprise a nylon dome extending substantially the full width of the base of the handle so as to be readily visible from both sides of the iron.
