Abstract

1424652 Heating yarns N KODAIRA 21 March 1974 [3 April 1973] 12752/74 Heading D1F In apparatus for heat treating running yarns comprising a series of elongate spaced vessels 1 each providing a (grooved, as at 2, or channelled) heated surface over and in contact with which yarn passes, the upper portion of each vessel communicating by pipe 5 with an upper common pipe 4 and the lower portion communicating by pipe 7 with a lower common pipe 6 and the vessel being filled with hot medium liquid 9 so as to cover a heater 8, the removal of accumulated unwanted gaseous material is effected as required by (repeated) opening and closing of a manually operated (needle) valve 12 in a pipe line 11, 15, between pipe 4 and a gas reservoir 16. When filled, the latter is exhausted by suction applied to a normally closed end of a tube 17. The reservoir may be external of (as shown) or within a casting 20, with a cooling wall thereof exposed to atmosphere. The valve 12 may be mounted above pipe 4 so that condensed liquid will not be trapped therein, Fig. 4 (not shown).
