Abstract

1335274 Heating yarns HOWORTH AIR CONDITIONING Ltd 7 June 1972 [8 June 1971] 19343/71 Heading D1F [Also in Division F4] Fumes are exhausted from the heaters B of textile yarn or filament processing machines by apparatus comprising pivotable closure members or doors D each of which is adapted to close a recess b in a respective heater through which the yarn or filament passes, each closure member D being formed with a longitudinally extending chamber d<SP>9</SP> which is in communication with the recess b through a pair of apertures d<SP>4</SP> in its inner wall d<SP>1</SP>. The chamber d<SP>9</SP> communicates with a main suction duct d<SP>7</SP> via an exhaust tube d<SP>5</SP> and flexible tubing d<SP>6</SP>, whereby fumes from the recess b, together with air from the ends of the recess, are drawn into the chamber d<SP>9</SP> and thence into the exhaust duct d<SP>7</SP> which is common to all the heaters. A seal d<SP>3</SP> is provided along each side by the closure member D. A curved longitudinal insulating strip d<SP>2</SP> attached to the inner wall d<SP>1</SP> extends into each recess b to reduce heat loss from the heaters each of which is housed in a surrounding container B1.
