Abstract

<PICT:0824403/III/1> Valve boxes are internally lined with corrosion- or erosion-resistant coatings by filling them, except for the space to be occupied by the coating, with one or more cores, forcing in the coating material in liquid or plastic condition, and heating this material either before or after removing the cores, to cause it to set. The coating material may be based on natural or synthetic rubber, and a preferred material is an unvulcanized rubber-ebonite mixture. As shown, cores 8, 9 and 10 are introduced into valve box 1 and held in position by end-plates 5, 6 and 13. A coating composition is introduced under pressure through aperture 16 so as to fill the remaining space (shown in black); holes 17 for the escape of air are provided.
