Abstract

<PICT:0888926/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0888926/IV (c)/2> An apparatus for dyeing skeins of yarn which are suspended or hung in the inner space of a cylindrically shaped and vertically disposed dye vat and through which liquor is circulated in alternate directions is characterized by the provision of an insert which serves as the treatment chamber for the skeins and consists of a hollow cylinder with an imperforate peripheral shell, a perforated base connected thereto and an upper perforated and removable cover, an annular space between the inner wall of the vertical dye vat and the imperforate shell of the cylindrical insert being utilised as part of the circuit for the inflow and return flow of the dye liquor. Referring to Fig. 1, vat 1 closed by cover 2 carries an insert 3 forming the wall of a dyeing chamber mounted on a conical ring 7 in vat 1, and may be lifted therefrom by stirrup 4 on upper cover 5 secured to insert 3 by screws 6. The movement of liquor is indicated by arrows, base 14 and cover 5 of the vat 3 being perforated. Fig. 3 shows the open vat, which has a stationary half 17 and a displaceable half 19 hinged at 18. Vertical step-like corner elements 24 reinforce the casing and carry mounting strips for the skein supports. The frames carrying the skeins are mounted as segmented chords inside the cylinder.
