Abstract

1382049 Dyeing apparatus PRETEMA AG 26 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 48710/71 Heading D1L Apparatus for dyeing textile material comprises a cylindrical container 1 having an intermediate stationary false bottom 5 on which the material to be dyed 7 is supported via perforated hollow cylinder 6, and a piston 3 disposed below the false bottom 5 in an inner cylinder 2 and connected via rod 4 to a reciprocating means (not shown), the false bottom 5 having channels 22 therethrough connecting the inside of perforated tube 6 with the upper face of piston 3 and further passages 23 connecting the lower face of piston 3 via ports 20 with the space surrounding the textile material 7. In operation piston 3 is moved in the direction of arrow A and causes dyeing liquor to pass in the direction of arrows 19 from the region C above the piston through passages 22 and the textile material 7 to be returned to lower region D of inner cylinder 2. Piston 3 is then moved in the direction of arrow B and the dyeing liquor is passed through the material 7 in the opposite direction to region C, thus achieving prevention of stagnation of dyeing liquor in any part of the apparatus. Heating means 16 and a cooling jacket 15 may be provided round inner cylinder 2 for heating the dyeing liquor during dyeing and for cooling it when the dyeing process is completed. The progress of the dyeing operation may be observed through openings 14 in container 1 which are Covered by glass cylinder 10 inside the container. Spent dyeing liquid may be drained through outlet 17.
