Abstract

<PICT:0787081/IV (b)/1> <PICT:0787081/IV (b)/2> Apparatus for obtaining samples of dyed cloth to indicate the progress of a dyeing operation being carried out in a closed pressure vessel 1 containing batching rollers from which the cloth is passed through a dye bath, comprises a sampling chamber 4 supporting cloth samples 10 from pillars 6, springs 8 and clips 9, through which chamber 4 the dye from the pressure vessel 1 is circulated via pump 2 and valves 3, 5, and a pressure plate 12 on a rod 13 which may be raised and lowered in sequence with the reversal of the batching rollers by a timer operated solenoid, Fig. 1 (not shown). The cloth samples 10 may be pressed together by upward movement of the rod 13, and released by downward movement to allow the dye to flow between the samples, thereby simulating the conditions in the pressure vessel.
