919,449. Determining specific gravity. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Dec. 15, 1961 [Dec. 16, 1960], No. 45003/61. Class 97 (3). [Also in Group XVIII] The density of a liquid, at high temperature and under the pressure of an inert gas, is measured by weighing a plunger 28 before and during immersion in the liquid which is contained in a vessel 31. The weighing device is formed by a plate 32 having a sleeve which slides on a magnetized core 1, the sleeve being surrounded by a coil through which direct current is passed tc balance the weight supported by the plate 32. Inert gas may be supplied at 38 and withdrawn at 39, the measuring chamber 11 being heated by elements 16 and insulated by material 34, 42. The vessel 31 is raised and lowered by a magnet 35, operated by a rack 37 and worm 36, co-operating with a piston 29 carrying the vessel 31. Condenser elements or traps 40 prevent vapours from the liquid rising up to the magnetized core 1.
