In a transistorised radio receiver automatic gain control is derived from a separate diode rectifier 31 the cathode of which is directly connected to the collector of the last I.F. amplifier transistor 21. The anode of the diode 31 is connected to B- over load resistor 33, the diode obtaining a delay bias from the voltage drop produced by the collector current of the transistor 21 in the D.C. resistance of the primary 26 of the I.F. output transformer.
