865,122. Automatic gain control arrangements. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Aug. 24, 1959 [Nov. 21, 1958], No. 37621/58. Class 40(5) In an automatic gain control circuit the D.C. output of a diode detector 6 is filtered by network 7 and applied to the base of a transistor 8, the emitter of which is taken to a source of adjustable reference potential comprising potentiometer 11 and source 10. The collector is connected via resistor 13 to a source of negative potential, the voltage drop across resistor 13 being smoothed by condenser 15 and comprising an amplified control voltage which controls the gain of I.F. stage 1. The arrangement may be used for the simultaneous control of the gain of a number of amplifiers by making the source of adjustable reference potential common to them all.
