Abstract

888,370. Electric coils; transformers. FERGUSON (ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS) Ltd., J. R., FERGUSON, J. R., and MOLES, R. J. Jan. 19, 1959 [Jan. 24, 1958], No. 2391/58. Classes 35 and 38 (2). To allow for thermal movement of a coil 1, e.g. an overload or current transformer primary coil, it is loosely encased, first in a thin shell of insulating material 4 and then in a resinous material 6, leaving an air space 7. The shell 4 is of resin-bonded glass fibre, made in two preformed V-shaped halves cemented or riveted together and the resin 6 is applied by moulding. The coil may be of copper or aluminium strip or foil.
