582,888. Enclosures for resistances ; cooling. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER, E. Dec. 18, 1942, No. 18005. [Class 37] [Also in Group XXXV] A transformer or choke has a multi-turn winding, the interstices of which are filled with metal which has solidified from the molten state in contact with the turns of the winding- for facilitating cooling or reducing electric stress. The metal may be of Wood's metal or other low-melting point alloy, and the turns may be insulated with glass fibre or enamel or comprise alumina-sheathed aluminium embedded in lead. To reduce eddy currents the metal may be sub-divided by spaces or glass partitions.
