888,318. Valve amplifying circuits. COLE Ltd., E. K., and WOODHALL, N. M. Jan. 12, 1961 [Nov. 4, 1959], No. 37363/59. Class 40(6). In an amplifier in which the loud-speaker is connected by means of a plug and socket P, S, removal of the plug P breaks a short circuit across resistor R1. The valve V1 preceding the output stage is then biased to cutoff by a cathode bias derived from resistors R1, R2 so preventing damage to the output stage if the amplifier is operated in this condition.
