887,892. Feeding webs. HANSEL JUNIOR G.m.b.H., OTTO. May 23, 1958, No. 16640/58. Class 100(1) [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for feeding webs to a wrapping machine (see Group XVII) comprises photoelectric means sensitive to print on the webs and operating a device to slightly retract the webs according to any degree of misalignment of the print relative to the wrapping instrumentalities. The apparatus feeds two double webs 36, 37, forming inner and outer wrappers, side by side to cutters 47, 47<SP>1</SP>, the webs being led from reels over spring mounted tensioning rollers (Fig. 2, not shown). The webs pass beneath scanners 40, 40<SP>1</SP>, the resultant signal operating solenoids 41 to cause rollers 44, 44<SP>1</SP> to press the webs to a greater or lesser degree into recesses in the feed table. The webs are fed by a single lower roller 46 and upper rollers 45, 45<SP>1</SP> the upper rollers being raised to stop the feed in the event that feelers 53 do not contact articles to be wrapped. The entire paper feed mechanism may be tilted about its drive shaft 59 for adjustment purposes.
