Abstract

887,092. Transformers. FULLER ELECTRIC Ltd. Sept. 23, 1960 [Sept. 25, 1959], No. 32622/59. Class 38 (2). A large transformer core, including a bottom yoke formed in two or more parts is assembled on site with windings on its limbs, by aligning the bottom yoke parts with gaps between, and filling the gaps by inserting laminations from one or both sides and interleaving them with the laminations of the bottom yoke. A threephase transformer comprises limbs 2a, 2b, 2c, winding 3a, 3b, 3c, bottom yoke parts 4a, 4b, 4c, and top yoke parts 5a, 5b, 5c. Between bottom yoke parts 4a, 4b, 4c are spaces 7, 8. In each gap the packets of laminations of adjacent yoke parts are arranged as in Fig. 2, packets 11, 12 being opposite 13, 14 respectively. To connect yoke parts 4b, 4c together, packets of laminations such as 15, 17 are inserted through gap 8 from the side, until the gap is filled. Packet 15 is first placed in abutment with the end 16 of packet 12, 17 is then placed in abutment with edge of packet 15, and edge 18 of packet 14. Gaps 7, 9, 10 are filled in the same manner. Plate 24 with flanges 30, are then aligned with yoke clamping plates 6b, 6c and flanges 29, by means of dowel pins 33. Bolts 22 are tightened, bringing the yoke into the final correct position.
