Abstract

1282489 Welding transformers A SOLLI 9 Sept 1969 44494/69 Heading HIT A welding transformer comprises a core 1 having two legs with primary and secondary windings on each leg, and an M-shaped current controlling magnetic shunt 4 movable between the two windings on each leg, the two legs of the core being located in the spaces between the limbs of the shunt. The centre leg of the magnetic shunt together with the primary and secondary coils may in its lowest position fill the transformer core opening while the outer legs and yoke of the shunt fill all the remaining space between the primary and secondary coils except for the section below the core illustrated in Fig. 1. The magnetic shunt is formed of plates, some of which in the middle leg are narrower than others so that grooves (5, Fig. 3, not shown) are formed in the side surfaces of the middle leg. The inner side surfaces of the core legs are provided with guide members 13, for the shunt which co-operate with said grooves. The guide members also form parts of clamp devices (Fig. 4, not shown) to compress the core plates together.
