886,369. Non-refillable stoppers. HAIG & & CO. Ltd., JOHN. Oct. 25, 1960, No. 36548/60. Class 66. A non-refillable bottle stopper comprises a casing 3 providing a seat for a movable valve member 12 apertured at 14 and on which seats a glass ball 15 weighted by a larger glass ball 19 under a baffle member of which prongs 20 guide the ball 19 in its movement when the bottle is tilted. The baffle member, which has a central aperture 21a in a flange 21 and lateral slots 24 in a tubular part 23 is held in position by a nozzle member 26, a flange 28 of which seats on a sealing ring 5 on the bottle neck. A metal shell 29 holds the stopper on the said neck. On tilting the bottle the ball 15 is permitted to move from the aperture 14 whereby air may enter the bottle thus breaking a possible vacuum formed between the liquid and the stopper which would otherwise retain the valve member 12 on its seat. Apart from the balls 15 and 19, the stopper parts are of a transparent or translucent synthetic resin.
