Abstract
2-Aminoanthraquinone is made by subjecting 2-chloro-1 : 4 : 11 : 12-tetrahydroanthraquinone at a temperature of at least 160 DEG C. and under superatmospheric pressure to the action of an aqueous solution of ammonia in the presence of an oxidising agent. Alcohol may also be present. 2-chloro-1 : 4 : 11 : 12-tetrahydroanthraquinone is made by reacting 1 : 4-naphthoquinone with 2-chlorobutadiene.
