Abstract
884,069. Electric lamp mounts. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Aug. 29, 1960 [Aug. 27, 1959], No. 29745/60. Class 39(2) A mount for an incandescent electric lamp in which the axis of the filament substantially coincides with the longitudinal axis of the lamp comprises a stem press and a pair of spaced lead-in wires of unequal length extending generally parallel to the filament and terminating in inwardly directed portions to which the ends of the filament are attached, a segment of the longer lead-in wire adjoining the stem press being relatively stiff and the remainder of this lead-in wire and the shorter lead-in wire being more flexible than this segment. In the form shown, the shorter lead-in wire consists of a segment 10b extending angularly from the stem press 6, a segment 10c parallel to the lamp axis and an inturned end 10a. The larger lead-in wire consists of a segment 8b extending angularly from the stem press 6 and diverging from the segment 10b, a segment 8c parallel to the lamp axis, two successive segments 8d, 8e inclined in opposite directions and an inturned end 8a. The filament 14 which extends between the ends 8a, 10a is supported at its centre by a wire 16 carried by the stem press 6. In an example, the shorter lead-in wire is of nickel-plated copper, the portion of the larger lead-in wire up to the point 9 is of dumet and the balance is of nickelplated copper.
