817,908. Lamp-caps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 2, 1957 [Aug. 17, 1956], No. 25273/56. Class 38 (1). In a lamp, e.g. an infra-red lamp, comprising a tubular envelope 6 from the ends of which lead wires 5 are led out through flattened pinches 7, said pinches are greater in width than the diameter of the envelope 6 so as to form shoulders 12 between them and the envelope and metal caps 8 each consisting of a flattened cylinder 10 with a cup-shaped expansion 9 at one end are secured on the pinches 7 by sliding them thereon, until the cup-shaped expansions 9 rest against the adjoining ends of the tubular envelope 6, and crimping the walls of the caps at each side of the cup-shaped expansions and behind the shoulders 12. The lead wires 5 are then secured to the insides of the caps, the open ends of which are finally filled with a suitable cement. More than one lead wire may be brought out through each cap and where it is not desired to use the cap as a contact, a length of copper braid carrying an eyelet terminal may be secured thereto.
