Abstract
879,062. Electric incandescent lamps. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R. T. Sept. 7, 1959 [Sept. 5, 1958], No. 30480/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(2). An electric lamp especially for projection, having a gas filling of which at least half is nitrogen and a coil shaped filament made up of a plurality of sections of singly or doubly coiled Tungsten wire in series, the operating temperature of the filament being more than 2500‹C. at the rated voltage, and in which the stress voltage along the sections is greater than 12V per mm and/or that between adjacent sections is greater than 20V per mm, contains an addition of between 0.5 and 5% of hydrogen by volume. No inert gas may be present in the lamp. The surfaces of components of the lamp in contact with the gas filling, particularly the glass envelope of the lamp, should be free from oxides reducible by hydrogen under operating conditions. In an example, the filling comprised 50 % nitrogen, 48.5% argon and 1.5% hydrogen. Specification 838,562 is referred to.
