Abstract

883,561. Bottle carriers. G. O. EQUIPMENT Ltd. June 11, 1958 [June 28, 1957]. No. 20441/57. Class 133. A carrier for supporting bottles 11 from their necks 12 comprises one or two cardboard sheets having a handle portion and a plurality of spaced slots 4, each formed with an enlarged portion 5 and a narrow portion 6. The enlarged portions 5 are passed over the tops of the bottles and the sheet 1 is moved horizontally relative to the bottles to position their necks in the narrow portions 6. Flaps 7 are folded down to the plane of the slots 4, the sheet 1 is folded about crease lines 2, 3 to bring panels 16, 17 together and a flap 10 is then inserted through a slot 8 of the panel 17 to form the handle. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 7, part A of sheet 20 is passed over the bottle tops and then moved horizontally so that the necks engage with narrow portions 30 of slots 29. Part B of the sheet 20 is then folded inwards about a crease line 22, enlarged portions 36 of the slots 29 are placed over the bottle tops and panels 27, 28 of the part B are pulled to engage the narrow portions 30 of the slots with the bottle necks 34, to form a double layer base 39. In a further modification, Fig. 10, two identical sheets 41, 48 are lowered over the bottle tops, pulled in opposite directions so that the bottle necks engage with the narrow slot portions and the free ends of the blanks folded upwards.
