Abstract
883,384. Brush holders for dynamo-electric machines. NOBRAC CARBON Ltd. March 18, 1958 [Dec. 18, 1956], No. 38544/56. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXVII] A carbon or metal brush, e.g. for a small dynamo-electric machine, or switch contact, is held in a resilient, bifurcated, arm by the bent ends of the furcations. As shown in Fig. 2 the brush has slots 3 and the arm has a kink 7 in addition to the bent ends 6. Alternatively to the shape shown, the arm may be straight, or may be shaped to bring its free end in line with the brush's vertical axis. Alternatively to the kink 7 a strip between the furcations may be bent against and over the end of the brush. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 7, the brush 1 is cylindrical and a central strip 10 of the arm 5 is bent to engage a helical groove or thread 12. In this case the ends of the furcations have side projections bent down at 13. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that the furcations may be corrugated to grip the brush slots tightly.
