Abstract
906,583. Brushes. ROSE MANUFACTURING CO., A. J. July 17, 1961 [Aug. 18, 1960], No. 25850/61. Class 19. A cleaning device for cleaning battery terminals and connectors comprises a hollow cylindrical base member 10 having radially inwardly extending flange means 24, an annular brushing element 14 removably arranged in the member 10, a brush holder 12 removably attached to the member 10 and coacting with the flange means 24 to retain the brushing element 14 in the member 10, and a brush 16 carried by the holder 12 and extending outwardly therefrom. As shown, the brushing element 14 which may be formed by tempered steel wires 38 stapled into a flexible cloth and rubber back 40 is fitted within the cylindrical skirt 30 of the holder 12, inside which is a rib 42 that engages the ends of the backing 40 to prevent rotation of same. The upper end of the holder 12 is provided with threads 44 which engage the threads 28 on the member 10. The brush 16 is of the type having wire bristles 48 held between the twists of a wire stem 46 which is mounted in a hole 36 in the holder 12. A cover 18 has threads 50 which engage the threads 28 on the member 10. In a modification, the holder 12 is not provided with a skirt 30 so that the backing 40 directly engages the inside of the member 10 which may be provided with a rib corresponding to the rib 42.
