Abstract

882,475. Hair driers. ALEXANDER & CO. Ltd., CHARLES. March 31, 1960 [May 20, 1959], No. 17130/59. Class 81 (2). In hair-drying apparatus, heated air is supplied to a hood by way of a pair of telescopic tubes 5, 6, are carrying the hood and the other being fixed, the hood-carrying tube being supported by a counterbalance weight 12 which is slidable axially of the other tube. A hair-drying hood comprising an outer shell and an inner perforated shell is connected to an upper air supply tube 5 which is telescopically slidable in an outer tube 6 which is disposed with a fan and a heater in the hollow back of a seat, above which the hood is located, or in a separate unit. The inner tube 5 is supported in the outer tube 6 by an annular counterweight 12 which is slidable on the outer tube and is connected to the inner tube by a wire 13, 15 which passes over pulleys 14 mounted on the outer tube. Bearings 10, 11 at the upper end of the outer tube and the lower end of the inner tube, respectively, prevent the passage of air into the space between the tubes.
