Abstract
881,063. Wrapping machines. CLEMENS, L. Sept. 7, 1959, No. 30498/59. Class 94(1). A machine for wrapping superposed corrugated cardboard &c. webs, feeds the webs between opposed belts while applying wrapper webs about them the wrapper web edges being overlapped and joined by separate strip material. The continuous wrapped stack is cut into sections. The webs 8 are fed between belts 13, 14 with wrapping material 10, 11, the latter being supplied from two opposed rolls 80, 81 carried on supports which may be turned to bring fresh rolls into position when those in use are exhausted. The wrappers are laid on to the top of the webs by rollers 41, 42 and on to the bottom by ploughs or by cones 46-49, the cones being carried by shafts of the belt support rollers 16. The closure strips are fed past moistening or gluing devices 56, 58 to be applied to the wrappers by rolls 40. The package is cut into sections by a known bandsaw, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown). The machine is adjustable for various package sizes.
