Abstract

880,842. Letter plates. SHOWELL & SONS Ltd., EDWIN, and FRIAR, R. J. May 27, 1960 [June 25, 1959], No. 21791/59. Class 18. [Also in Group XXV] A letter plate comprising an apertured frame 10 closed by a hinged flap 11 has a replaceable permanent magnet 23 mounted on the frame with its poles flush with that surface of the frame upon which the flap seats, to retain the flap in closed position. The flap and frame may be made of non-magnetizable material, a strip of magnetizable material being mounted on the flap to bridge the magnetic poles. An insulating mounting for the magnet is provided if the frame is of magnetizable material.
