Abstract
1,116,011. Magnetic tape; sound recording. L. W. KARALUS. 23 July, 1965, No. 31645/65. Heading G5R. [Also in Division H1] A magnetic recording tape, comprising a substrate coated with magnetic particles which are aligned so that their north poles are all at one surface of the tape and their south poles are at the other, is supplied fully magnetized, and sound is recorded by partial demagnetization. Erasing is effected by magnetization. The magnetic particles are individually coated with a lacquer or plastics material and are held on the substrate by a similar binding material.
