Abstract
880,553. Molten glass feeders. MORGAN REFRACTORIES Ltd. July 3, 1959, No. 23023/59. Class 56. Orifice rings for molten glass feeders have parts subjected to wear lined as at C or bushed as at A with a fine-textured, impermeable, high alumina material or ore made thereof wholly. The parts are made by slip-casting, die-pressing or extrusion and then fired. The high alumina contains over 80% by weight of Al 2 O 3 and is preferably a recrystallized alumina containing about 99.7% by weight of Al 2 O 3 . The linings and bushings are joined to the main orifice rings by a high alumina cement. Double gob orifice rings may have bushings and single orifices be lined.
