Abstract

880,173. Hydraulic pit props. GULLICK Ltd. June 18, 1959 [June 25, 1958], No. 20289/58 Class 20(2) [Also in Groups XXIX and XXX] The working chambers 23, 26 of a double acting hydraulic jack communicate respectively through a conduit 22 and an annular space 24 formed in the piston rod 13, with a rotary valve 31 which is connected to fluid pressure and exhaust mains, and is mounted on the piston rod. The jack is provided with a clevis 39 for attachment to a coal conveyer, and a pivot 40 for connection with a strut which is adapted to be wedged between the roof and floor of a mine working. In a modification (not shown) the strut is pivoted to the valve block. The jack may also be used as a pit prop.
