965,891. Hydraulic pit props. GEWERKSHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. Feb. 15, 1963 [March 7, 1962], No. 6211/63. Heading E1E. Corrosion preventing liquid is stored in the piston-rod 11 of a hydraulic pit prop and led by radial ducts 22 to the annular space 18 between the piston-rod 11 and the cylinder 10. The ducts 22 may be formed in the pins 17 securing the piston head 14 to the piston rod 11 and the liquid may be pressurised by an airfilled elastic capsule 23 having a closable filling socket 26 in a plate 27 received in the bore of the piston rod. Elastic stripping rings 19 are fitted at the end of the cylinder and additional seals 24 may be provided to retain the liquid.
