Abstract

879,895. Assembling force fits. WOLFF, W. (Waldes Kohinoor Inc.). July 28, 1960, No. 26308/60. Addition to 879,894. Class 83 (4). In an improvement or modification of the device for dispensing open retaining rings and applying them to grooves in a workpiece as disclosed in the parent Specification the storing means for the retaining rings are arranged in a frame and the swinging means consists of a lever pivoted to said frame. The device comprises a U- shaped handle-like frame 10 which accommodates a T-shaped stack rod 17 for the retaining rings R mounted on a support plate 16. One end of the plate is bent to provide an abutment 18 which facilitates the withdrawal of a ring by the applicator 33. The rings are pressed towards a guide plate 19 on the abutment 18 by a spring-loaded slide member 21. A lever 25 pivoted to the frame carries a toothed segment 27 which co-operates with pinions 28 and 29 to rotate the applicator 33 which is held in its rest position by a spring 40. When the lever 25 is depressed against the spring 40 the applicator with a retaining ring in its jaws is rotated through 240 degrees whereupon the device is taken to a workpiece 50 and the retaining ring driven by hand into a groove 51 in the workpiece. In a modification the lever is operated automatically.
