Abstract

Polyamide textiles are printed with an aqueous paste containing one or more disperse reactive dyestuffs and a volatile fatty acid, such as formic, acetic, propionic or butyric acid, and then heated or steamed. The paste may also contain an alkali metal salt of the above fatty acid, such as sodium acetate, an inorganic alkaline salt, such as trisodium phosphate or sodium borate, a non-ionic, cationic or anionic dispersing agent or any of the usual printing adjuvants, such as urea, thiourea, ethanol, sodiumm-nitro-benzene sulphonate, sodium chlorate, methyl cellulose, starch, locust bean gum, crystal gum, gum tragacanth, gum senegal, sodium alginate and oil-in-water or water-in-oil emulsions. Numerous disperse reactive dyes are specified and in this respect Specifications 802,935, 821,963, 825,377, 833,396, 833,832, 835,819, 836,671, 838,338 and 840,903 are referred to. Examples are given.
