Abstract

Azoic dyeings on linear aromatic polyester textile materials are produced by treatment in an aqueous bath containing a diazotizable amine in suspension and, as a coupling component, an alkylanilide or alkoxyanilide of b -hydroxynaphthoic acid in solution, at pH 8.5-10.5 and a temperature above 100 DEG C. and then in a second aqueous bath at a temperature of 20-85 DEG C. in which latter bath diazotization and coupling is effected. Treatment with the first aqueous bath is effected in an autoclave. A subsequent treatment with an alkaline reducing agent serves to remove surface deposits of dyestuff from the material. Diazotization is effected in the second bath by the usual method. Examples are given. Specification 698,490 is referred to.
