Abstract

In the production of azo dyestuffs on vegetable fibres, the fibres are treated at a long liquor ratio in a bath containing a coupling component and a diazoamino or tetrazoamino compound which is free from water-solubilizing groups, and the dyestuff developed in a neutral or alkaline bath. The dye-bath preferably contains an alkali and a neutral salt. Development of the dyestuff may be effected by subsequently adjusting the pH of the dye-bath to 7-9 by addition of an acid or acid-reacting substance such as acetic acid and/or acid sodium phosphate. Development of the dyestuff may also be effected in a separate bath at pH 9-7. Numerous azoic components are listed.
