Abstract

Cellulose fibre warps are simultaneously sized and dyed in the warp sizing/dyeing process. The coupling and diazo components employed are those used to generate insoluble azo dyes on the fibres. The sizing liquor contains not only the sizing agents but also the coupling component in alkaline solution and, in addition, a fine dispersion, prepared using an anionic dispersant, of an aromatic amine which is capable of coupling after diazotization and sodium nitrite. After the sized sheets of warp threads have been dried, development takes place by passing into a warm solution of a weak organic carboxylic acid.
