Abstract

879,107. Wrenches. RIDGE TOOL CO. Sept. 11, 1959, No. 31081/59. Class 61. In a wrench comprising a handle 10, a housing 12 at one end of the handle and at one side thereof, a hooked jaw slidably adjustable in the housing and a keel jaw disposed opposite the hooked jaw. the hooked jaw has a V-shaped article engaging surface opposite the heel jaw. As shown the hooked jaw has outer and inner surfaces 30, 31 inclined at 120 degrees and substantially equal in length to that of the heel jaw 15. The surface 30 is substantially parallel to that of the heel jaw. The sides of the shank 25 of the hooked jaw are threaded at 26 to receive the adjusting nut 27. In a modification, the surface of the inner portion of the V is longer than that of the outer portion. In another modification the housing 12 is off-set at an angle to the horizontal. In another modification the guide opening for the shank of the hooked jaw extends at 60 degrees to the longitudinal centre line of the wrench.
